It is heard from so many real estate investors in other parts of the country that they do not have a REIA in their area. What is a REIA? It is a Real Estate Investor Association. It is an integral part of being a real estate investor. In the New York Capital District, we have many choices when it comes to local real estate investor clubs. Here are a few:
The Action Investor Network (AIN) is a group of seasoned investors, but the group welcomes newbies as well. The club focuses on “getting deals done” and partnering within the group. This group has in its membership real estate investors, realtors, mortgage brokers, contractors, insurance people, and anyone interested in real estate. This group has been in existence for about a year and its membership grows rapidly. The website is http://www.albanyinaction.org. The Real Estate Investors Networking Organization (REINO) has been in existence for several years now but remains a small, tight-knit group of investors and realtors. The group has in its membership several very seasoned investors like its founder Jack O’Hara and is an education-based group that sits around comfortable tables to discuss specific topics. The group’s website is a yahoo group at: http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/smokeybones/. The New York Real Estate Investors Association (NYREIA) has been in existence for many, many years. The organization has taken different turns along the way from being a network-based organization to an education-based organization. The meetings will start up again in September headed by Bob Eberle who is an Associate Broker for Keller Williams and a very experienced investor. People joining the group are encouraged to get on the meetup page and let us know what you’d like to learn about. The group’s website is: http://www.meetup.com/realestate-257/. Women and Real Estate is exactly what it states. It encompasses women investors, realtors and any woman associated with real estate. The meetings are casual, and the group even took a bus ride to a distressed property to run a cost estimate of repairs. Join the group at their website here: http://www.meetup.com/Women-and-Real-Estate/Becoming active and involved in these various groups has helped me to grow my business much faster than I would have been able to do alone. I have built relationships that have opened doors to me and I have made many dear friends as well. Please comment and tell us your experiences networking and any great groups in the New York Capital District that you would recommend.
